Neutropenia
Neutrophils: Neutrophils are a type of white blood cell (WBCs), and are the first immune cell responders. They play crucial role in defending the body against infections, wherein they travel to the site of infection and destroy microorganism by feeding on them and by releasing antimicrobial enzymes.
Neutropenia is a condition in which, Neutrophils are lower than the normal levels.
Neutropenia can be acute or chronic, and can affect both children and adults.
